This term Year 1 have  been learning all about castles. We have explored how kings and Queens lived long ago and how this compares to our lifestyles now. Children could not imagine a time before iPads and mobile phones. We have looked at the different parts of a castle and what they were used for.

This term our topic has been Are you Afraid of the Dark? This began with an amazing visit from Guy Fawkes on our first day back at school who taught children all about the Gunpowder Plot. The children got to act out the story of the plot, and learn how to write secret messages once back at class. They used their learning to write Newspaper Reports and create Portraits of Guy Fawkes which can be seen in our class displays.
